The Autism AIM service is celebrating its’ 10th anniversary this November. Founded in November 2014, it has grown significantly from running weekly drop-in Autism Hub sessions in Leeds to providing a wide range of free services for autistic adults.

Today, there are several strands of the service. As well as the original Leeds Autism AIM service, which started it all, there is also the Autism AIM – Mental Health Equity Project and Bradford and Craven Autism AIM.

On top of that, the Leeds Autism AIM service has developed:

  • Post-diagnostic support
  • One-to-one peer support
  • The Mental Health Access Project
  • Peer-led groups

Looking back

To celebrate 10 years of Autism AIM, we will be publishing a series of #AIMiversary blog posts. Each post will look back at what we have done since launching, covering a different part of our work. Alongside that, we will also be working on a documentary about our service’s lifetime.

For the documentary, we invite anyone who has accessed our service to record a short video talking about any of the following:

  • What support you have had from AIM
  • What you like about our service
  • What you get from attending one of our Autism Hub sessions or autistic-led groups
  • How one-to-one peer support or post-diagnostic support has helped you

The videos should be no longer than 60 seconds. They can be either in landscape or portrait format but should answer one of the four questions above.

To submit a video to us, please email it to [email protected]. If the file size is too big to send as an attachment, please send the video file via a website like WeTransfer. Please contact us if you are having any difficulty with this.

Get involved

We also invite you to get involved on social media! If you have any fond memories of our service, feel free to share them on your social media accounts, using the hashtag #AIMiversary.

You can also share your thoughts anonymously by completing our short survey. Anything submitted will be shared on our social media accounts throughout November. To take it, please click on the link below:
