We can offer autistic adults (aged 18+) in Leeds one-to-one sessions with one of our peer support workers. They are autistic themselves and can meet with you in person or by using text chat.
What is Peer Support?
Peer support is when people use their own experiences to help each other. All our peer support workers are autistic and use their own experiences to help others understand what it means to be autistic.
Mind have a page explaining how peer support works one-to-one and in groups: https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/drugs-and-treatments/peer-support/about-peer-support/.
Please note that the waiting time for this service is approximately four months from when someone is added to the waiting list.
What do we offer?
In our peer support sessions, we offer:
- Information on what it means to be autistic
- Tips on managing day-to-day
- Information on any services you can access
- Greater understanding of different issues that affect autistic people
- Support from someone with lived experience of being autistic
You can have up to four peer support sessions a year.
