For our next webinar, our Peer Development Worker Dr Gill Loomes-Quinn will be covering the topic of family and relationships. In the webinar, she will be discussing:

  • The “Double Empathy Problem” and its impact on relationships between autistic and non-autistic people.
  • Challenging the myth that problems of interaction and ‘rapport’ between autistic and non-autistic people are a one-sided issue.
  • How to manage and maintain relationships when you have just been diagnosed as autistic – Finding words and addressing questions and challenges.
  • How to look after ourselves in relationships – Including managing the effects of ‘rejection sensitivity’ and lived experience of discrimination, and keeping ourselves safe.

When is the webinar?

It takes place on Thursday 19th September from 6pm-7pm on Zoom and is free to attend.

The talk will last for 45 minutes, with the remaining 15 minutes set aside for a question and answer session. Gill’s talk will be recorded, but the Q&A will not. The recording will not include others in the meeting, as everyone will be muted to make it easier to hear what Gill has to say.

To attend, you will need to register beforehand. Please click on this link to book your free place:
