This month, a group of local charities are holding a free event for World Autism Acceptance Month. The event will have information on what support is available for autistic people in Leeds, including peer support, advocacy, social groups, information and signposting.
It will have stalls from People in Action, The Advonet Group (the charity we are part of), Hamara, Leeds Health Awareness Project, Connect in the North and Healthwatch Leeds and is completely free to attend. They will be there to answer questions about help for autistic adults, children and the people who support them.
When is the event?
The event is on Tuesday 8th April from 11am to 2pm at the White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds. You don’t need to book in advance to come – just turn up in person!
Information on how to get to the White Rose Centre can be found on their website. There are toilets throughout the venue, as well as support for neurodivergent visitors.
On Tuesday, the White Rose has something called ‘Quiet Tuesdays’. This is where the noise is turned down from 10am-12 Noon for shoppers. At their Customer Service Centre, they also provide sensory toys for autistic shoppers to use if they have forgotten their own. This is near New Look and Car Park 6.
If you have any questions about the event, please email either Bob at [email protected] or Luke at [email protected].
