This June, we will be running free training sessions for autistic adults who would like to be an Autism Peer Support Volunteer. The training is for our new Volunteer Peer Support service. A brand new role, it mainly involves:
- Being paired with an autistic adult to help them identify and overcome barriers
- Plan strategies with them to manage day-to-day
What is the training?
Training for this role is across two sessions. The first is an induction which explains what volunteering with us involves. The second covers autism and peer support. Additional online training that could help you in your role is also available.
Both sessions will be co-delivered by autistic members of our staff team.
When is the training?
The Induction is on Wednesday 5th June from 5pm-8pm. Tea and coffee will be provided.
The Autism and Peer Support session will be on Saturday 8th June from 10am-3:30pm. Food will be provided.
Both sessions will be held at the Unity Business Centre, 26 Roundhay Road, Leeds LS7 1AB. This is where The Advonet Group’s office is located – please go to their website to find out more about getting there.
How do I book on the training?
