In the New Year, we are running free training sessions for anyone who would like to help autistic adults in Leeds to set and achieve their goals. Our mentoring service pairs an autistic adult in the Leeds area with a volunteer mentor. The autism mentor’s role involves:

  • Meeting regularly in an appropriate place to see how their mentoring match is doing
  • Listen to anything the mentee needs to talk about
  • Create a mentoring plan together by helping to identify and set life goals
  • Signposting to any relevant services/support

Training dates

There are three training sessions – autism awareness, volunteer induction and mentor training. Dates and times for each session are as follows:

  • Saturday 28th January – Autism Awareness – 10am – 3:30pm
  • Wednesday 1st February – Induction training – 5pm-8pm
  • Saturday 11th February – Mentoring training – 11am – 3:30pm

If you want to become an autism mentor, you must attend all three sessions. All sessions will be in the Leep1 Office at this address:

First Floor
Unity Business Centre
26 Roundhay Road
Leeds
LS7 1AB

To register on the training, please email Beth MacDonald, Leeds Autism AIM Volunteer Coordinator, at [email protected]. Please also email Beth if you have any questions about mentoring or if you are autistic and would like a mentor.
