Our Tuesday drop-in welcomes a guest speaker to mark Autism Acceptance Month, and our fortnightly Friday Hub for booked appointments returns. Here’s what we have planned for both next week:
Lovell Autism Hub – Tuesday 24th April – 3:30-7pm
First up, the Leeds Autism Diagnostic Service (LADS) team will have their consultation session from 3pm to 5pm. They can talk about what it means to have an autism diagnosis and offer related information.
We are able to produce personalised resources for the whole session. These include autism alert cards, hospital passports and employment profiles. These can help you to tell people how being autistic affects you.
At 5pm, we have a guest speaker to discuss the idea of autism acceptance. Gill Loomes, an autistic academic based in West Yorkshire, will talk about what it is and why it is preferred to awareness. Her talk will be followed by a discussion.
Ian from the Chapeltown Citizens Advice Bureau is in to give information on complex topics including benefits and money. He’s in from 3:30pm to 7pm, but has most of his time booked.
Our staff will be in to provide information and signposting, limited advocacy support and peer support, as always.
Friday Autism Hub – Friday 27th April – 4-7pm
The fortnightly hub for booked appointments is back. There, we can offer:
- Information and signposting
- One-to-one peer support
- Employment advice
- Info from the Chapeltown Citizens Advice Bureau
To come to this session, you need to book an appointment. You can do so by emailing us at [email protected].
