Leeds Autism AIM is currently running a one-year Autism and Suicide Prevention Project (ASPP).
Please note that we are not taking any more referrals due to the project coming to an end in March 2026.
To be eligible for this project, you must:
- Have a formal autism diagnosis
- Be aged 18+
- Be living in the Leeds City Council area
- Receive little or no funded support
What we offer
As part of ASPP, we offer flexible one-to-one peer support sessions with autistic staff, in which we can support with things like:
- Understanding your autism and identifying your needs and adjustments
- Communicating your needs or background to professionals and services
- Exploring emotions and ways to manage them day-to-day
- Developing self-advocacy strategies and tools that work for you
- Filling out personalised resources to support your wellbeing
- Talking about any issues that might be contributing to how you're feeling (e.g. housing, benefits, debt, relationships)
Talking about suicidal thoughts can be difficult, and these feelings may come and go. Even if you're not experiencing them right now, you might still find value in one-to-one peer support to explore the emotions and challenges behind them.
Please note ASPP IS NOT a crisis support service. If you are in crisis, please visit the MindWell Leeds website or view the Leeds Crisis Card here: MindWell- PDF
To refer into ASPP or if you have any questions, please email [email protected] with the subject heading ASPP and we will get back to you.
