The Autism Reference Group, a quarterly forum for autistic adults in Leeds to have their say on what services in the city should do for them, meets next month at the Lovell Autism Hub. Its aim is to give autistic people a means of sharing their views on what areas need to be improved.
It will meet on Tuesday 4th September at the Hub from 5pm to 6:30pm. To attend, all you need to do is come along in person – there’s no need to book.
What happens?
At the group, the people can raise any issue where they feel that autistic peoples’ needs are not being met. At previous reference group meetings, areas such as transport, mental health, employment and benefits have been raised.
By the end of each meeting, the group decide which three topics should be taken to the Leeds Autism Partnership Board. People can also put themselves forward to go to the next board meeting, which is on later that month.
At the Partnership Board meeting, the three points chosen to raise to those present will be read out. Then, board members who represent services in Leeds respond to what the Reference Group has raised.
