Leeds Autism AIM are working in partnership on a project led by Citizens Advice Chapeltown. It is supported by an Access to Justice grant, funded by the Three Guineas Trust. This will enable us to provide much needed additional support to autistic adults via our Autism Hubs, involving:
- Citizens Advice providing advice on areas such as benefits, money, housing etc to autistic adults and support to access directly at the AIM hubs
- Additional advocacy and self-advocacy support for autistic adults via our Autism Hubs through a dedicated advocate
- Joint working between us and Citizens Advice on information resources identified as needed for autistic adults living in Leeds
Access to Citizens Advice support will start at our Autism Hubs in March. Direct advocacy support will begin in April.
Working together
The work from Citizens Advice will be led by Diana Flores Gallardo, their new caseworker. She will be there to provide specialist advice one-to-one.
We are looking forward to working closely with Citizens Advice Chapeltown. Not only on improving access for autistic people, but in improving our joint working and understanding across our service areas.
There will be more information about this service on the Leeds Autism AIM website in the coming weeks. It will explain when the support is available, what the project can and cannot do and how to make a referral.
If you have any questions about this work, please email us at [email protected].
