At this time of year, there are changes to when bin collections, recycling at tips and mail delivery happen. In this guide, we explain what will happen with those services at Christmas in the Leeds area.
Bin collection days in Leeds
Leeds City Council have published information about when bin days will change, based on when your normal days are for collection. Here is a table with information on when bins will be collected at Christmas:

Bin collections will be back to normal from Monday 5th January. The Council advise you to bring your bins out by 6:30am on the day of collection. To be sure of when your bins are going out, please use the Check your bin day page of the Council’s website.
Household Waste and Recycling Centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Postal services at Christmas
Royal Mail have a guide on their website explaining when the last days before Christmas are for posting letters and parcels. They recommend posting as early as possible to ensure what you are posting arrives in time.
The latest possible date for 2nd class mail is Wednesday 17th December. For 1st class mail, it’s Saturday 20th December. The guide in full is here: Last posting dates

As for receiving post, it will not be delivered on the following dates:
- Sunday 21st December
- Christmas Day
- Boxing Day
- Sunday 28th December
- New Year’s Day
