We are pleased to announce that Leeds Autism AIM has received funding to continue much of our work. This will help us to maintain our core services for the foreseeable future.

Firstly, we have been given a four-year contract to keep our Autism Hubs, post-diagnostic support and information and signposting services running, with the option of an additional fifth year. This is from a grant awarded by the NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board with support from Leeds City Council.

Mentoring and volunteer peer support

We also received a new three-year grant from The National Lottery Community Fund. The funding will help us to provide:

  • One-to-one peer support delivered by autistic members of our staff team
  • One-to-one peer support delivered by autistic volunteers
  • Training to voluntary organisations on supporting autistic volunteers
  • Employment mentoring volunteers

It will also help us to keep our peer-led groups going, including our monthly Women-Aligned and Peer Support groups.

Training Live Well Leeds

Finally, our contract to provide training for Live Well Leeds staff has been extended by another two years. We have given autism awareness training to dozens of members of their team from the beginning, receiving plenty of positive feedback.

Huge thanks to everyone for awarding us the funding to help us support hundreds of autistic adults across Leeds every year. We cannot wait to continue what we started over 10 years ago!

We will have more information on our one-to-one peer support offer in due course, with the services due to start in the autumn.
