To mark Autism Acceptance Month, different services across Leeds are holding two free autism information events next month to show that help is available. It will have stalls from services working with autistic people and parents/carers. They include:

  • People in Action
  • The Advonet Group, including their Leeds Autism AIM and Yorkshire Autism AIM services
  • Connect in the North
  • Healthwatch Leeds

What is Autism Acceptance Month?

Autism Acceptance Month runs throughout April every year. Its’ aim is to help make sure that autistic people are accepted for who they are. Autistic people face discrimination in several areas, including employment, mental health and accessing support.

The aim of this event is to show that there is support available in Leeds, including from services that are co-led by and run for autistic adults. We aim to help reduce the barriers to getting into work, accessing support and living a full, independent life.

When are the events?

The first event is at the White Rose Shopping Centre. It is on Tuesday 2nd April from 11am-4pm. The venue is at this address:

White Rose Shopping Centre

The second event is on Tuesday 9th April from 11am to 2pm at Kirkgate Market. It is at this address:
